One of the world's largest defence and commercial aviation companies has recognised a Victorian SME as a leading supplier.
Melbourne's Cablex, an electrical systems and C4I solutions provider, was awarded an Airbus Helicopters Supplier Award, honouring the SME as the best global supplier for industrial performance across quality, schedule and total costs.
Cablex has worked with Airbus for more than a decade, providing electrical harnesses, avionic bays and platform integration services for the NH90 and global Tiger platforms.
Managing director of Cablex Michael Zimmer said the award has acknowledged the SME's strong collaboration with Airbus.
"A key element of our successful relationship has been communication, lots of hard work and an understanding that each job is delicate and complex," said Zimmer.
"Every day, our teams work together to find solutions on complex issues. We’ve built a track record of developing innovative solutions and adapting technology efficiently to meet Airbus requirements.
"A mutual understanding of operations across production, technical and quality areas has been vital."
The long established relationship has resulted in the Melbourne-headquartered SME understanding Airbus tools and the thinking behind what Airbus is looking to achieve and improve overall efficiency.
Since its establishment in 1985, Cablex has had significant experience in the defence sector, developing and manufacturing electrical systems for harsh environments and developing solutions where electrical noise is a critical factor.
