RAAF Base Tindal

A subcontract for electrical services works at the Royal Australian Air Force Base Tindal has been awarded to a leading Western Australia-headquartered electrical, instrumentation, communication and maintenance services company.

A subcontract for electrical services works at the Royal Australian Air Force Base Tindal has been awarded to a leading Western Australia-headquartered electrical, instrumentation, communication and maintenance services company.

Sydney-based property and infrastructure firm Lendlease has awarded Southern Cross Electrical Engineering (SCEE) the subcontract for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the electrical component of the upgrade of the existing airfield facilities at RAAF Base Tindal to support the New Air Combat Capability (NACC) being acquired by the Australian Defence Force.

The NACC project is part of Air 6000 Phase 2A/B, which will see upgrades to RAAF base facilities in preparation for the Joint Strike Fighter's introduction in 2019.

The NACC Facilities scope at each site relates specifically to facilities and infrastructure works, not the aircraft or its operations.

SCEE has been operating since 1978 with staff and projects throughout Australia. SCEE's managing director Graeme Dunn said this latest project is just another achievement for the Australian company and an opportunity to break into more sectors like the defence industry.

"The award of this significant package of defence works is another important milestone in SCEE's continuing diversification into a broader range of sectors and geographies," Dunn said.

RAAF Base Tindal is located about 17 kilometres south-east of Katherine, Northern Territory, which is located about 320 kilometres south-east of Darwin.
