Indigenous Defence & Infrastructure Consortium has been recognised as Boeing’s Global Diverse Supplier of the Year.

Sydney’s iDiC was recognised for the award alongside Victoria’s CSIRO for the Pathfinder Award at the event dominated by a majority of American award winners.

The Diverse Supplier of the Year award recognises iDiC’s work in engaging more than 34 Indigenous businesses in Boeing Australia programs for facilities management, cyber security, professional services, training, information, communications, aerospace, and ISO certification.

iDiC founder and chief executive officer Adam Goodes said iDiC’s seven-year strong partnership with Boeing has included the introduction of an innovative relational contracting agreement in 2020 supported by University of Tennessee and consultancy First Contact.

“It’s an honour to be recognised for our dedication to uplifting Indigenous businesses into the global supply chain for their significant economic and social contributions,” Goodes said.

“Accepting the Diverse Supplier award as the first Australian, first Indigenous company could not have been achieved without our Indigenous business consortium partners.

“This award represents our deep commitment to achieving Black excellence, through trust, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to our customers,” he said.

Six iDiC businesses recently graduated Boeing’s Capability Up-Lift Program designed to support Australian small-to-medium enterprises to increase defence readiness and build resilient sovereign supply chain.

“We’re extremely proud of our partnership with iDiC and extend our sincere congratulations to the Indigenous businesses who support our Australian programs,” said Boeing Defence Australia managing director Scott Carpendale.

“We recognise that our engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses presents opportunities on multiple levels.

“Cultivating diverse supply chains make our defence and aerospace industry better and provides a tangible way we can support Reconciliation with Indigenous Australians – one that contributes to closing the gap on economic independence for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples that own or work for Indigenous businesses.”

iDiC consortium partners who have participated in the recognition include All Aspects Recruitment, Blakout, Bridgeman, Desert Springs Projects, Direct Ergonomics, Dreamtime Art, Fields Group, Geared Up Culcha, Gunggandji Aerospace, Integrity Health & Safety, IPS, JY Australia, Kristal Kinsela, LOGIT, Maybell Group, Message Stick Communications, Orana Commercial Relocations, Pacific FS, PSG Holdings, Red Arrow Survey and Planning, Sarita King, TQCSI Yaran, We Create Print Deliver, Willyama Services, Zancott Knight FM, and Zancott Recruitment.
