Elsight comms system integrated into Lockheed UAS

ASX-listed Elsight’s Halo communication system has been integrated with Lockheed Martin’s Indago 4 Uncrewed Aerial System, having successfully completed beyond visual line-of-sight flights.

The system enables continuous connectivity by aggregating different communications links, including cellular connections, satellites and SDR radio, to provide platform connectivity across different environments.

According to the company, the system can be deployed to support a range of operations, from disaster response to surveillance and remote inspections, providing constant video and data links to the mission command and control centre.

The capability is expected to broaden the Indago 4’s ability to operate across different terrains, obstacles and distances with uninterrupted data flows.

“We designed the Halo to provide real-time situational awareness in difficult defence and public safety scenarios,” Roee Kashi, co-founder and chief technology officer of Elsight, said.

“Ultimately, field commanders need to make strategic decisions at any moment and should have the widest ‘lens’ possible with all the critical information. Now with our integration, the Indago 4 becomes the ‘eyes’ of any commander and the control centre.”

Elsight was founded by two former Israeli Defence Force soldiers from the nation’s intelligence community in 2009, focusing on the development of audio and video transmission products.

According to the company, it was listed on the ASX in 2017 following its success in Israel.

The Halo is the company’s flagship product and can bond up to four LTE and 5G cellular links as well as RF and SATCOM connections into one VPN pipeline, the company’s website said.
