Basham, a former group chief executive officer for body armour company HighCom Group (formerly XTEK Ltd), was announced to the new position at the Australian-owned and operated company on 9 July.

“Great to update that I have joined Blacktree Technology, as their new COO, and very excited to be working with the Blacktree founders Joe Nevin and Joel Nevin and the entire team located across our facilities in Perth and Canberra,” Basham said.

“Blacktree is a wholly Australian-owned and operated company, and a trusted global supplier of resilient communications solutions that solves mission critical problems for military and commercial organisations, in challenging and geographically diverse environments.”

In a public statement from Blacktree, the company said Basham brings more than 25 years of extensive experience as a corporate executive in the security and defence technology sectors across Australasia and the Asia-Pacific.

“Scott’s expertise spans strategic sales, business development, international marketing and communications, alongside deep proficiency in commercial, operational, and program management,” the company said.

“He possesses a comprehensive understanding of integrated technology systems and their diverse applications in aviation, transportation, critical infrastructure, border protection, and military environments.

“His career has been marked by leadership roles in major global companies such as Smiths Detection, Unisys, Safran Morpho, Idemia, and as the Group CEO of Ava Risk Group Ltd, an ASX-listed company, culminating in his recent position as Group CEO of HighCom Ltd, also an ASX-listed entity.

“Scott’s appointment at Blacktree Technology signifies a pivotal new addition to the senior leadership team and comes at an exciting time for the company as we continue to grow and expand both here in Australia and overseas.

“Working alongside our founders … and the broader leadership team, we look forward to leveraging his wealth of knowledge and leadership experience to drive innovation and continued growth in the company’s portfolio of defence technology solutions. His proven track record and diverse skill set position him strongly to navigate complex challenges and capitalise on emerging opportunities in the dynamic global SATCOM market.
