Defence support services provider Sayres has teamed up with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to help upskill Australian Defence Force members as well as the government sectors with their respective industry and academia expertise.

UTS and Sayres are set to deliver new teaching and learning opportunities targeting the immediate skills requirements of the Australian Defence Force and government sectors.
The training courses are designed to span across the entire spectrum of skills requirements and will assist staff in gaining the relevant skills needed for career development and progression.
The new partnership is aimed at leveraging Sayres and UTS’ respective wealth of knowledge in defence training and tertiary education.
Commenting on working alongside UTS, Sayres Australia chief executive officer Craig Powell is keen to deliver high-end technical training to the Defence and government sectors, particularly in the highly sought after and rapidly developing cyber and artificial intelligence domains.
“This partnership brings a synergy of Sayres’ extensive defence training experience with UTS’ tertiary education systems to provide an end-to-end training solution in key capabilities for Defence and government.
“UTS and Sayres look forward to working together to ensure that Australia’s Defence Forces and government sector staff are well equipped to stay relevant in the current ever-changing, technologically focused world,” Powell said.
The collaboration is tailored to the specific and immediate requirements of the Defence and government sectors and will result in co-designed, non-accredited and nationally accredited courses.
UTS pro-vice-chancellor (enterprise learning) Mark Evans added that bolstering training needs within Defence is key.
“Delighted to be partnering with Sayres to empower current Defence personnel to gain the skills and training relevant to prepare them for their constantly evolving professional landscape.
“Sayres’ deep understanding of Defence contexts combined with UTS’ subject matter expertise means that we bring complementary capabilities to solve the training needs within Defence,” Evans concluded.
