The global defence technology company has been tapped to support the development of digital infrastructure for the US Air Force’s next-generation BMS.

Leidos has been selected by the US Department of the Air Force to support the newly launched Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) Digital Infrastructure (DI) Consortium.

Leidos is expected to collaborate with industry partners to design, develop, and deploy modern Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) capabilities for both the Air Force and Space Force.

The work aims to deliver a “distributed battle management and decision advantage”, supporting speed, security, and integration at scale.

Establishing the DI Consortium is a significant milestone in realising the DoD’s JADC2 efforts,” Gerry Fasano, Leidos Defense Group president, said.

The Leidos team looks forward to bringing our decades of systems integration and digital modernisation expertise to help drive the DoD’s JADC2 strategy to reality.”

This latest deal comes less than a month after the US Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) awarded a US$358 million (AU$520 million) contract to Leidos for the design and construction of a medium-sized unmanned undersea vehicle (MUUV).

The platform is expected to be capable of supporting intelligence preparation of the operational environment, providing submarine-based autonomous oceanographic sensing and data collection for the Navy.

The MUUV is also tipped to provide surface-launched and recovered mine countermeasure capability.

Work is set to be performed from Leidos’ facility in Lynnwood, Washington.
