The companies have partnered to deliver maritime capabilities under the Regional Maintenance Provider North bid, while exploring opportunities for future collaboration.

The partnership hopes to deliver a sovereign and class agnostic maintenance offering, employing a local supply chain to sustain naval capability for the Royal Australian Navy.

According to a release from the partnership, the companies have confirmed they will look to provide:

  • maritime engineering and asset management;
  • quality control and certification;
  • seaworthiness assurance; and
  • Navy systems and process expertise.

As part of the collaboration, Ventia has committed to utilising their 30 years of experience working within Defence maritime capability to ensure continued maintenance of Australia’s fleet.

“Our local sub-contractor relationships and support from local business groups like Northern Territory Indigenous Business Network and Chamber of Commerce gives us the experience and resources to grow the local skilled workforce and manage local supply chains to expand the sovereign Defence industry in the region,” says David Robinson, Ventia’s head of Maritime.

“We know that unity is strength, and our previous success at bringing the Coonawarra ship lift back to full operation together was a demonstration of what Ventia and Beca can achieve together.”

Likewise, Beca looks to leverage its five decades of experience working with Australian and New Zealand Defence Force capabilities across design, engineers and independent advisory.

“Beca is pleased to team with Ventia to bring the best of what both companies have to offer, to provide the Commonwealth of Australia with the best possible solution for RMP-North,” Mick Jensen, business director – maritime at Beca, said.
