Veterans SA will kick-off its regional outreach activities for 2023 with a visit to Lucindale to participate in the 2023 South East Field Days next month.

Veterans SA will kick-off its regional outreach activities for 2023 with a visit to Lucindale to participate in the 2023 South East Field Days next month.

Veterans SA will be joined by Open Arms - Veterans & Families Counselling, Legacy Club of South Australia & Broken Hill, Military and Emergency Services Health Australia, Australian Partners of Defence, and Disaster Relief Australia at this year’s event.

With more than 22,000 people expected to attend the event over its two-day program, the agency hopes to reach as many local veterans and their families as possible and connect them with important services and support.

Veterans SA director, Chantelle Bohan, said that the agency’s planned activities for 2023 have a strong focus on regional outreach and support.

“As part of our strategic outlook, Veterans SA has committed to conduct regular community engagement activities in regional South Australia. Connecting regional veterans and their families with essential support is critical, especially as many are unaware of the services available to them,” she said.

Data from the 2021 census revealed that there are approximately 1,636 people located in the South East region that have served, highlighting the importance of connecting with veterans and their families in the region and raising awareness of the support available.

Ms Bohan added, “The agency has now participated in several Regional Field Days, and we’ve found them to be an effective way to reach our community and to hear directly from them about matters of importance.”

The Veterans SA stand will be located at site 21 in the Yakka Pavilion at the 2023 South East Field Days in Lucindale on 17-18 March 2023.
