His leadership roles include service as a chief executive, company director, chair and board member, having also served as a board director at the AIPM.

AIPM details that he is a fellow certified practising portfolio executive, a fellow chartered professional engineering executive, and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Danesh holds a master’s degree in engineering science and a PhD in strategic project portfolio management.

“With his strategic vision and wealth of experience, Dr Darius Danesh is poised to lead the AIPM towards greater heights,” Elena Zagorenko, chair of the AIPM Board, said.

“His appointment marks a significant milestone for our organisation, and we are confident that under his leadership, the AIPM will continue to thrive and excel. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Dr Danesh as the new chief executive officer of AIPM. We look forward to the exciting journey ahead under his capable leadership.”

The AIPM represents 8,500 members across eight local chapters.

The institute outlines that it engages, educates, and advocates for the project profession in Australia.

Danesh replaced Sid Gokani, who departed as chief executive officer in late 2022, having served in the role since 2021.

AIPM confirmed that under Gokani, the institute delivered a record financial surplus alongside growth in membership.
