The Mawson Lakes defence hub in South Australia has expanded with the opening of QinetiQ Australia’s new office.

The new office, opened by South Australian and Minister for Defence Industry Christopher Pyne, will be home to QinetiQ's 27 staff in Adelaide, with room for up to 55 staff as the company continues its expansion. Across Australia, QinetiQ currently employs over 350 Australians.
QinetiQ Australia's managing director Greg Barsby said the opening of the new office is an important milestone for the company, which initially had six Adelaide-based staff nine years ago.
"We have experienced strong growth over the past year and, following the acquisition of integrated logistics support provider RubiKon Group, our business now employs over 350 people in Australia," Barsby said at the opening.
"From our humble beginnings, with six Adelaide-based employees in 2008, our new office provides space for up to 55 employees.
"We now have better facilities from which to run our business."
Minister Pyne said the new office and QinetiQ's growth in the Australian defence industry sector is a win for the state, which is set to see long-term benefit from the multibillion-dollar naval shipbuilding projects.
"QinetiQ is an important industry support partner for flight testing systems at Woomera Test Range, and has recently commenced engineering, logistics and business support for the P-8A Poseidon’s crucial intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities in South Australia," the minister said.
“South Australia has a strong defence industry, and QinetiQ’s new office demonstrates their confidence in and commitment to Australia and Australian jobs."
