As Votiro prepares to set up its Australian headquarters, the cyber security company has confirmed the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) has given it security certification.
Votiro, which specialises in protection against undisclosed and zero-day exploits utilised in cyber attacks, said the certification means its products can be used by government bodies, as well as healthcare and education providers.
The company's certification was obtained through the Australasian Information Security Evaluation Program (AISEP), which is overseen by the Australasian Certification Authority.
"It’s never been more important that the Australian people have confidence in their government’s IT systems, along with the partners that design, maintain and protect it.
"Votiro is pleased to have received certification from the Australian Signals Directorate and is looking forward to the opportunity to work with Australian government organisations to combat the growing cyber security risk."
The move comes after Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Cyber Security Dan Tehan led a dialogue in October, focused on fostering better collaboration in cyber security between Australia and Israel.
"The cyber security agenda is more important than ever," Prime Minister Turnbull said at the time.
"Dan Tehan ... is here leading a delegation for a cyber security dialogue here in Israel, happening right at the moment. And we are going to take that further to have a closer collaboration on cyber security and we’ll be having another dialogue with government industry and academia in Canberra next year.
"We have a vital interest in working more closely together all of the time. More closely and intensely together to keep our people safe from terrorism and from the use of the internet, encrypted applications especially, which are so enabling terrorism in a way that would have seemed impossible, as I said, a few years ago."
There are currently 16 Israeli companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, many of which specialise in the cyber security and technology fields.
