The Defence Reserves Support Council (DRSC) Victoria has appointed its newest chair.

The Defence Reserves Support Council (DRSC) Victoria has appointed its newest chair.

Jaquie Scammell, a member of the council since 2011 has been appointed as chair. Minister for Defence Personnel Darren Chester said Scammell was a great choice for the appointment.

"I congratulate Ms Scammell on her appointment as chair, she brings a wealth of experience and expertise from the private sector to the role," Minister Chester said.

"The Defence Reserves Support Council provides an important link between the Australian Defence Force, employers, industry groups and other peak bodies in the community from which Reservists are drawn.”

Scammell said it was a privilege to be appointed as the chair of DRSC Victoria, as the role allows her to service the Reserves community in Victoria.

"I am extremely excited to help Defence continue supporting Reservists to serve Australia when and where they are most needed," she said.

Promoting the benefits of Reserve service to the business community, the DRSC develops partnerships with employers to facilitate Reservists’ contribution to Defence capability.

Scammell succeeds Colin Radford, who first joined the council in April 2014, and served as the chair of DRSC Victoria from 2014 through to 2017.
