Members of the defence industry from 56 nations convened in Brisbane last week for the meeting of the Joint Authorities for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems (JARUS).
The meeting was hosted by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority, and aimed to refine the Specific Operation Risk Assessment (SORA) (WG-6), Air Risk models and DAA (WG-4) outcomes.
Representatives included experts from national aviation authorities (NAAs), air navigation service providers (ANSPs) and industry.
Australia's Nova Systems took part through JARUS representative Dr Terrence Martin, who joined the meeting featuring representatives from the US, France, Indonesia, New Zealand, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Israel, Romania and South Africa.
Nova sponsored an "Australiana themed barbecue" at Southbank Parklands for the JARUS participants, featuring a collection of classic Australian meals including "large tasty slabs of beef served with cold beer".
Nova Systems has a history of supporting both military and the civil sector in UAS operations, with experience spanning UAS acquisition, operations, system safety, airworthiness management and flight test and evaluation.
Nova said it is "committed to contributing to the unmanned aerial systems community both nationally and internationally".
