St Hilliers Property secures contract for construction of Townsville ADF health centre

St Hilliers Property has landed a $10.8 million contract with Defence for the construction of a new health centre at RAAF Base Townsville.

St Hilliers Property has landed a $10.8 million contract with Defence for the construction of a new health centre at RAAF Base Townsville.

Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price and federal member for Herbert, Phillip Thompson, made the announcement, and confirmed that work would begin "within weeks" on the new health centre.

“The construction of the new health care facility will ensure the Australian Defence Force is able to provide quality health services for its personnel,” Minister Price said.

“The facility will include primary care including mental health and rehabilitation, inpatient unit, pharmacy, physiotherapy, dental, general support, external works, airfield response and deployable health accommodation for No. 1 Expeditionary Health Squadron.”

Thompson said the government’s defence procurement policies are supporting local businesses in achieving a greater share of Defence work.

“Under our Defence Policy for Local Industry Participation, St Hilliers are required to maximise opportunities for local businesses to supply goods and services for Defence works,” Thompson said.

“I’m pleased this important upgrade to facilities at RAAF Base Townsville will not only benefit the ADF members, but also the local businesses involved.”

Construction of the new health care facilities at RAAF Base Townsville is scheduled to commence in late 2019 with completion anticipated by late 2020.
