Boeing, the world’s largest aerospace company, has officially opened its newest office in Adelaide, South Australia, as part of its expansion in the Australian defence industry.

The new Boeing Defence Australia CBD headquarters will be used as a research, development and innovation hub for programs spanning C3I, surveillance, reconnaissance, and advanced experimentation and prototyping.
BDA’s growth in Adelaide builds upon its SA team that has been executing on support contracts for the E-7A Wedgetail, P-8A Poseidon and Collins Class submarine.
Minister for Defence Industry Christopher Pyne was at the official opening of the CBD hub yesterday to promote the employment opportunities the new office will provide.
"Boeing is an integral part of Australia’s defence industry and the partner of choice for some of Australia’s largest and most complex defence projects," Minister Pyne said.
"Boeing Defence Australia has created more than 1,180 new jobs in the last two years, almost doubling its workforce to more than 2,000 employees across the country. In Adelaide, the company expects to grow to approximately 250 people over the next five years.
"It is fitting that in Boeing’s 90th year in Australia; its newest office is in Adelaide, demonstrating the company’s continued confidence in finding great talent across the country and putting people to work in support of defence."
As previously reported on Defence Connect, some of the 250 roles planned for the Adelaide hub will include software engineers, researchers and project managers, and it is hoped that Boeing's arrival in Adelaide will create more jobs in the broader defence sector and other high-tech industries.
Premier of SA Jay Weatherill said Boeing Defence Australia's commitment to the state is an exciting move going forward.
"South Australia will become a strategic hub for Boeing Defence Australia, creating around 250 new highly skilled technical and advanced research positions," he said.
"These skilled roles will offer significant sustainable employment opportunities to young South Australian graduates, with the added benefit of creating jobs with defence contractors and significant numbers of indirect jobs."
