defence reserves support council appoints national chair

The Minister for Defence Personnel Dan Tehan has announced the appointment of Jane McAloon as the national chair of the Defence Reserves Support Council.

The Minister for Defence Personnel Dan Tehan has announced the appointment of Jane McAloon as the national chair of the Defence Reserves Support Council.

McAloon succeeds Marcus Blackmore, who served on the council for eight years, including two years as national chair.

McAloon’s senior executive roles have included president governance and group secretary at BHP Billiton and group manager at AGL. She has also served on the Australian War Memorial Council, and is currently a director of Bravery Trust, a military charity that provides financial assistance to veterans and their families suffering financial hardship.

"I congratulate Jane McAloon on her appointment as national chair of the Defence Reserves Support Council," Minister Tehan said.

"She brings a wealth of experience and expertise in executive positions across the public sector and private enterprise to her new role."

The Defence Reserves Support Council provides an important link between the Australian Defence Force, employers, industry groups and other peak bodies in the wider community from which Defence Reservists are drawn. It promotes the benefits of Reserve service to the business community and develops partnerships with employers that facilitate Reservists’ contribution to Defence capability.
