The Department of Defence (DoD) is seeking to engage with defence industry personnel to develop its Sovereign Industrial Capability Assessment Framework (SICAF).

The DoD is looking for members of the Australian Business Defence Industry (ABDI) to engage in a discussion with Assistant Secretary Defence Industry Matt Ramage, who is a key player in ensuring the development of SICAF, along with key staff.
SICAF is an important development for defence industry, and one that will guide the implementation of industry programs for many years to come.
The existing Priority and Strategic Industry Capability framework will be replaced by SICAF.
The DoD has previously said SICAF will help improve the identification and management of the sovereign industrial capabilities that develop and support Australian Defence Force (ADF) capabilities and will allow the ADF to have access to the industry capabilities it needs.
SICAF was unveiled as a key framework piece for the DoD in the 2016 Defence Industry Policy Statement.
The previously advised timeframe for the release of the framework is the middle of 2017. The meeting with Ramage and his team is therefore an crucial opportunity for companies to engage and to have their say.
The meeting will take place on 8 May between 1:30 and 3pm at Brindabella Park Building 25, Canberra.
