Defence Connect’s Australian Defence Industry Awards is back for 2020 with an amazing evening of recognition celebrating Australias rapidly growing defence industry, with submissions now open.

To be held in November, the Australian Defence Industry Awards – supported by principal partner KBR – will again showcase the depth of talent in Australia’s defence industry while affirming its essential role in supporting national security, resilience and driving innovation, economic growth and workforce development.

Recognising leading professionals and organisations, the awards will cover 30+ categories focusing on all facets of the defence industry.

Categories cover primes, SMEs, academic institutions and associations through to high-performing individuals such as defence executives, Indigenous and female leaders, students, scientists, technicians and academics.

Steve Kuper, editor at Defence Connect, said that the 2020 awards program would be bigger and better than the inaugural awards, while taking into consideration the reality of the post-COVID-19 world.

"As we've seen through the national response to the bushfires and to the COVID-19 pandemic, defence businesses and professionals play a critical role in supporting the Australian Defence Force, with the capabilities, platforms and services required to support and defend Australia's national interests," Kuper said.

"In light of travel restrictions and attendance limitations, we've had to adapt our award offering, but, we have something very exciting planned for the evening, which we can't wait to share with you.

"I would encourage all defence businesses and professionals to nominate for the awards. Recognition will not only help you stand out in a competitive field and highlight your experience delivering high-level defence programs, you’ll also gain acknowledgment for your contribution to strengthening Australia’s national security and resilience."

Kuper added, "We are looking forward to building on the success of the inaugural awards in 2019, and helping Australia's defence industry champions be recognised for the outstanding work they do serving the ADF and national economy as a fundamental input to capability."

Rob Hawketts, vice president government solutions APAC, KBR, said, "Following the great success of the first Australian Defence Industry Awards last year, KBR is proud to once again be the Principal Partner for the event this year. These awards provide an important opportunity to collectively recognise and celebrate the achievements of the companies, organisations and individuals that make up our defence industry."
