Northrop Grumman appoints new CTO

The prime has appointed an internal candidate to serve as its new chief technology officer.

The prime has appointed an internal candidate to serve as its new chief technology officer.

Scott Stapp has been appointed as Northrop Grumman’s new corporate vice president and chief technology officer (CTO), effective immediately.

Stapp has also served as the principal staff assistant to the undersecretary of defence, acquisition, technology and logistics.

In his new role, Stapp, who will report to chairman and chief executive Kathy Warden, will be responsible for leading the company’s technology strategy.

Specifically, Stapp has been tasked with ensuring Northrop leverages current technology and identifies new solutions for the market.

The new CTO is also responsible for engaging and developing the Northrop’s technical talent.

Stapp most recently served as Northrop’s vice president, space resiliency and rapid prototyping, and served as vice president, applied research and technology development, from December 2014 to August 2018.

Prior to joining Northrop Grumman in 2014, Stapp led the governance, acquisition and oversight of all of the US Department of Defense’s special access programs, for the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
