Australian owned and operated Innovaero Industries announced that itsmaritime unmanned aerial system (MUAS), dubbed the Innovaero FOX, has progressed through to the next stage of the flight-testing schedule.

Innovaero FOX, measuring an eight-metre wingspan, successfully completed a series of tests where the company was able to analyse system data, allowing it to progress to vertical take-off and landing and conventional take-off and landing trials later in the year.

The trials follow two years of privately funded research and development.

Innovaero Industries confirmed that the MUAS was devised to meet the Defence’s Maritime UAS Continuous Development program. The program’s stated aims are to meet Defence’s ongoing needs for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting MUAS’.

Chief executive of Innovaero Group, Simon Grosser, outlined that the system has generated interest from across defence industry.

“It is pleasing that the Innovaero FOX is generating so much interest — particularly from major defence industry participants associated with SEA 129-5 — who recognise the company has a unique, home-grown capability, that has already generated significant export sales, and has encouraging growth potential, Grosser said.

“Whilst FOX is still in the developmental phase, we have a proven track record of aeronautical commercialisation success, and that has already led to a number of promising discussions with defence primes regarding potential collaboration opportunities.

Innovaero expects to launch the Innovaero FOX at the Avalon Airshow.
