Aerospace and defence professional Claire Knight has joined the Shoal team to lead Shoal’s Defence and Space business.

Knight succeeds former head of defence and space Matthew Wylie, who moves across to lead Shoal’s growing transport and infrastructure business.

The appointments are testament to Shoal Group's culture of thought leadership and engineering excellence, according to CEO of Shoal Michael Waite.

“We invest in our people and our capability and continue to deliver innovation through our high-performing workforce,” Waite said.

“Through our experience in Defence, space, transport and infrastructure, we have built a strong foothold across many government and industry clients in a variety of domains within Australia and New Zealand.”

The appointments aim to demonstrate Shoal’s ongoing commitment to the defence, space, transport and infrastructure industries, bolstering the company's investment in supporting systems thinking through model-based systems engineering practices.

Wylie, Shoal’s new head of transport and infrastructure, has been with Shoal since 2015 leading complex capability design projects and supporting organisations in the development of their systems engineering capabilities.

Prior to joining Shoal, Wylie worked within the automotive and electronics industries in Australia and Japan and is keen to bring his expertise to his new appointment.

“I am looking forward to using digital engineering practices to address the challenges of complex, capital-intensive projects, and help to build sustainable future transport and infrastructure capabilities,” he said.

Shoal’s sovereign capability and experience working with all levels of defence and now the burgeoning space industry is key for the Knight's new leadership appointment at the company.

"I am thrilled to join Shoal as it continues to grow and partner with Australian primes and government agencies,” Knight said.
