According to Toby Wright, a former Navy hydrographer and Kinexus’ SA regional manager, Middleton is a successful office location.

“South Australia has been at the centre of Kinexus’ delivery capability since 2010.”

“With so much Defence activity based in the state, it made sense for Kinexus to have a presence here,” Wright said.

In 2018, Kinexus opened its Victor Harbor office with an initial capacity for two workers. The new Middleton office has space for 10 as well as boardroom facilities.

The company chose the South Australian region for expansion to capitalise on the availability of ex-ADF talent.

Many young people who grow up in the region join the Defence Force due to restricted job opportunities and those who transition out of military life choose to return home to the region.

In a statement, Alexandrina Mayor Keith Parkes welcomed Kinexus to the Alexandrina Council business community.

"Their presence in Middleton will be welcomed by locals looking for work in the defence industry and by returning veterans.”

"The work they do in defence industry recruitment and providing employment for ADF veterans is important and valued," Mayor Parkes said.

Kinexus founder and director Raj Kutty, added that not only does opening an office in Middleton bolster regional employment in Australia, it also exemplifies the strategy of taking the work to the workers, with the new office having five out of the seven ex-ADF staff.

“Toby is one of multiple Kinexus staff members who lived in this region before we set up an office here. We identified that their work could be undertaken from any location and acted accordingly.”

This strategy is something Kinexus encourages clients to do as much as possible, as the Australian defence industry is currently in the midst of a significant worker shortage.

The office opening was presided over by Rebekha Sharkie MP on Tuesday 12 October 2021.
