The electronic systems solutions provider has been tapped to integrate its display technology in a fleet of transport aircraft.

The Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) has awarded a contract to Thomas Global Systems for the supply of TFD-7000 Series flight displays, to be installed across the Boeing 757 fleet.

The TFD-7000 Series displays, tailored for Boeing 757, 767 and 737 aircraft, are tipped to provide a high-performance, cost-effective drop-in LCD retrofit, designed to resolve critical issues around cathode ray tube (CRT) obsolescence while also increasing operational efficiency.

The displays are also expected to support the integration of emerging airspace technology without the need for flight deck modification and associated aircraft downtime and crew retraining costs.

The TFD-7076/7066 LCD replaces the Collins Aerospace EDU-776/766 CRT displays, currently installed on Boeing 757, 767, and 737 Classic flight decks.

According to Thomas Global, the TFD-7076/7066 LCD displays are interchangeable and intermixable with the existing legacy EDU-776/766 CRT displays, installable on overnights or at the gate, and are compatible with the EFIP-701 and EAP-701/3 Boeing symbol generators.

The company has secured STC approvals from FAA, EASA, Transport Canada, JCAB, ANAC and CAAC.

“We are honoured to be selected by the Royal New Zealand Air Force and look forward to helping them achieve their missions with these important display upgrades,” Angus Hutchinson, CEO of Thomas Global Systems, said.

“We greatly appreciate the RNZAF as a highly regarded military operator and are pleased to see the TFD-7000 Series becoming the new standard for both commercial and government Boeing fleets.”

Robert Pandis, Thomas Global’s vice president of military markets, said the new technology would support the Boeing fleet’s deployment across a broad range of missions.

“Equipping with TFD-7000 Series displays provides the RNZAF with the latest generation of display technology aimed at enhancing reliability and operations while minimising flight deck modifications and making the most of their budget,” Pandis added.
