Beca has confirmed that it has been awarded a contract for the delivery of their Estate Management and Operation Services 3rd Party Assurance Program by the Department of Defence’s Directorate of Estate and Land Management.

According to the company, the EMOS ensures that estate elements are safe, serviceable and compliant, hence providing support to Australia’s defence capability.

The contract was competitively tendered, with the company having delivered assurance services to Defence for five years.

During the current program, the company’s ISO-accredited auditors provided assurance activities across 75 establishments supporting estate upkeep, electrical management, water quality management, asbestos management and land management.

The Defence Estate is a critical enabler of the country’s Defence capability and supports the generation and sustainment of the Australian Defence Force,” David Barter, business director of defence and national security at Beca, said.

“Consequently, the assurance of the maintenance performed on the estate is crucial and we are proud to continue our long and genuine partnership with DELM as their assurance partner.”

In June, the company was tapped to upgrade the New Zealand Defence Force’s (NZDF) AW109 LUH helicopter simulator and provide through life support, with ongoing assistance from the simulator’s original developers, Leonardo and Virtual Simulation Systems (VSS).

According to Beca, the upgrade and support project are essential for the ongoing success and capability of the NZDF’s Rotary Wing Task Force.

With a contract term of 10 years, Andrew Ford, market segment lead – defence and national security at Beca, explained that the companies will ensure quality training is delivered to new pilots on the simulators.

“We are delighted to be supporting the simulator upgrade and the through life capability for the NZDF. We are also excited to continue our partnerships with Leonardo and Virtual Simulation Systems to bring the NZDF training simulation up to date and support the RNZAF and NZDF over the next 10 years of pilot training,” Ford said.

The contract is delivered as a partnership between Beca with Leonardo and Virtual Simulation Systems which originally developed the simulators. The collaboration is expected to deliver international and local expertise to maintain leading helicopter flight training to the NZDF.
