Babcock Australasia has announced Richard Udall as the managing director of mission and support systems.

The former strategic surveillance program director at BAE Systems Australia was responsible for sovereign and United States export High Frequency Over the Horizon Radar programs.

Udall will now take up the challenge of leading Babcock’s mission and support systems portfolio.

 
 

“Babcock has a clear strategy and ambition for growth. This coupled with the focus on its core principles, creating a positive organisational culture and work environment for its people was a key attraction for me,” he said.

“This is an exciting time to be in the industry. Customers are looking to industry for increased levels of service and early delivery of critical capability to support the changing geopolitical and operational environment.

“This will require us to think differently, work closely with our customers to develop innovative solutions, and deliver them in a more agile way.

“The need for change has never been greater and I am looking forward to ensuring Babcock is at the forefront of this journey.”

Portfolio programs include Australia’s Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System, Australian Defence Force Ground Support Equipment, Collins Class submarine weapons system sustainment, New Zealand Fixed High Frequency Radio Refresh, and Counter – Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive equipment.

Babcock Australasia chief executive officer David Ruff said the company is delighted to welcome Udall to Babcock’s leadership team.

“Richard’s appointment will strengthen the delivery of the important work we do for our customers and the communities we serve across Australia and New Zealand,” he said.

“The programs that sit within Richard’s portfolio form an important part of Babcock’s corporate strategy and ambition for further growth in the region.
