The People’s Republic of China has begun trialling new modularised prefab cabins for the People’s Liberation Army personnel.

The new type of field-camping logistic support system has been put into service with a brigade at the Shenyang Joint Logistic Support Centre, according to a public statement on 22 May.

Each air-conditioned prefab cabin and inflatable tent can be easily assembled and disassembled, while also providing comprehensive and smart service for troops in field training.

The buildings reportedly come equipped with camping, catering, garbage disposal, and other functions to support large-scale assembly, rest, rehabilitation, training, and rotation of troops in the field. They are also camouflaged for easier concealment.

“To enhance field camping security, the camp is also fitted with an advanced 24-hour security protection system with facial recognition devices and infrared monitoring webcams,” a PRC spokesperson said.

“With automatic identification, tracking and prewarning functions, the system will automatically sound an alarm in case of failed authentication.”

The housing system reportedly also features household waste treatment equipment, garbage disposal, and sewage treatment equipment for recycling and reutilising wastewater in camp.
