Rescue and medical teams rushed to the scene, however, the personnel were later confirmed to be deceased.

No other members were injured during the incident.

The families of the deceased soldiers have been notified and are currently receiving support and assistance from Defence.  

“This is a tragic accident and our deepest sympathies go to the families and loved ones of our soldiers,” Chief of the Army, Lieutenant General Rick Burr, AO, DSC, MVO.

“Our highest priority is caring for the families, friends and loved ones of our soldiers and we ask that you respect their privacy during this difficult time.

“It is with this in mind that we will not be releasing the names of our soldiers at this time.”

The incident is currently under investigation, with Defence working alongside the Queensland Police Service to identify the cause of the accident.
