Ultra Maritime, UK MOD to continue sonobuoy anti-submarine surveillance contract

Ultra Maritime confirmed an agreement with the UK MOD for delivery of sonobuoy anti-submarine surveillance equipment.

Ultra Maritime confirmed an agreement with the UK MOD for delivery of sonobuoy anti-submarine surveillance equipment.

Ultra Maritime has entered into a three-year contract with the UK Ministry of Defence for the delivery of Ultra’s sonobuoy systems, valued at £31 million. The sonobuoy, produced by Ultra’s Sonobuoy Systems business line, will continue to be used in the Royal Navy’s Merlin Maritme Patrol Helicopter for a further three years.

The equipment will allow the Royal Navy to continue to conduct anti-submarine surveillance.

President of Sonobuoy Systems welcomed the ongoing agreement.

“I am very excited and appreciate the Royal Navy choosing Ultra for this three-year follow-on sonobuoy contract. We look forward to working with the Defence Equipment & Support Merlin Delivery Team to supply and support cutting-edge, affordable and valuable anti-submarine (ASW) solutions. This investment by the Ministry of Defence enables the UK’s Armed Forces to deal with modern and evolving submarine threats.”

Ultra Maritime further commented that this was an important contract to further bolster employment in the UK.
