Awards process

Defence Connect in conjunction with the Australian Defence Industry Awards have developed a robust awards methodology that recognises growth, business development, diversity, leadership, innovation, business excellence and contribution to Australia’s defence and national security, using key benchmarks and performance indicators.

Stage One

Any individual or group wishing to enter the 2019 Australian Defence Industry Awards is asked to complete a detailed submission answering key criteria items. To review all category details and to commence your submission click here.

If you’d like to nominate a business partner, colleague, industry participant, business, sub-contractor, university or association for an Australian Defence Industry Award click here. Nominating is easy and will take less than a minute; nominations across multiple categories can be done on the one form.

Stage Two

All submissions must be received through our secure awards platform by 5:30pm on 26 July 2019.

Our awards platform is safe, secure and compliant. It’s ISO/IEC 27001 certified, compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), PCI DSS, and more.

Stage Three

Finalists are announced; individuals and groups will be contacted directly as well as published on Defence Connect as well as the Australian Defence Industry awards website. Finalists will be announced the week of 5 August 2019.

 

 

Stage Four

Submissions will be delivered to a panel of respected industry professionals and business leaders who will assess each submission. Judges will score each submission across a range of criteria, which can be found under each category description once you have registered to lodge a submission, which can be done here.

A number of judges will individually assess each submission for each category, offering a blended score and assessment.

Stage Five

One winner will be announced per award category, with the awards presented at a gala black-tie dinner on Thursday, 26 September at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra. For full details on the event click here.

Our Judges

 

With a judging panel including ex senior ADF and military leaders, academics, business executives, entrepreneurs and innovators, the Australian Defence Industry Awards is peer-reviewed recognition of your capabilities in defence and passion for driving the industry forward.

We’re currently assembling a respected panel of judges who will review and assess all 30+ categories based on the methodology outlined above. Full details of our judging panel will be released shortly.

The awards are open to all organisations operating in Australia supporting the defence supply chain, and will be a coveted accolade for both individuals and businesses seeking to forge their role in the defence industry.
