International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) is the only international defence exhibition and conference in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region demonstrating the latest technology across the land, sea and air sectors of defence.

It is a unique platform to establish and strengthen relationships with government departments, businesses and armed forces throughout the region. Held every two years, the trade show welcomes more than 100,000 visitors and 170 high-level delegations from around the world.

Exhibiting on the Team Defence Australia stand is free of charge however successful companies will be responsible for flights, accommodation, freight and other related costs.

The theme of the Conference will be: 'Innovation and Investment in the Sub-sea Environment’. SubSTEC5 will be held with the support of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to: Offshore science/technology/engineering; Engineering design; Emerging/disruptive submarine technologies; Research and development/test and evaluation policy and management; Workforce skills development; Sovereignty/intellectual property protection; Integrating multi-national technology; and Complex program management. For people who wish to attend the conference as delegates, registrations will open on 1 May.

The Masterclass will track China’s global and regional ambitions, and review the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP)  investments in cyber, intelligence, defence, space & social credit. This event will offer a deeper understanding of China, the CCP and its rapidly evolving place in the world and explore the policy implications for Australia and the Indo-Pacific region more broadly.

The International Military Writers’ Festival is a three-day festival running from 5-7 April 2019. The Festival will feature author talks, panel discussions and literary sessions bringing together writers, historians and researchers from around Australia to entertain, inform and inspire those with a passion for wartime history. The Writers’ Festival will open on Friday 5 April with a welcoming address by His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC, and then an evening address, The Day Everything Changed, from Festival Ambassador Peter FitzSimons. With his trademark dry wit and sincere passion for history, Peter will explore the events surrounding the initial bombing of Darwin on 19 February 1942 - a milestone that changed Darwin and Australia forever.
