SubSTEC 5 Conference

The theme of the Conference will be: 'Innovation and Investment in the Sub-sea Environment’. SubSTEC5 will be held with the support of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology.

Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Offshore science/technology/engineering;
  • Engineering design;
  • Emerging/disruptive submarine technologies;
  • Research and development/test and evaluation policy and management;
  • Workforce skills development;
  • Sovereignty/intellectual property protection;
  • Integrating multi-national technology; and
  • Complex program management.

For people who wish to attend the conference as delegates, registrations will open on 1 May.

Textron Systems, Bell Helicopters and BAE are looking at a number of UAS Defence Projects, and have prepared a roadshow across Australia in search of potential partners in the supply chain. The programs they are bidding for are: LAND 129 Phase 3 – Shadow 200 TUAS replacement LAND 4503 – ARH replacement SEA 129 Phase 5 – Maritime TUAS The event will consist of an hour of presentations by Textron, BAE and Bell, followed by an hour of networking.

The Office of the Defence Seaworthiness Regulator is hosting the inaugural Defence Seaworthiness Symposium in Canberra 21-22 November 2019. The theme of the symposium is ‘Reforming to Transform - Seaworthiness as a Defence wide priority’. Day 1 will consist of an address from the Defence Seaworthiness Authority VADM Michael Noonan and presentations from Capability Managers and their representatives as well as an informative panel discussion. Day 2 will consist of 2 concurrent workshops facilitated by staff from the Office of the Defence Seaworthiness Regulator. Workshop 1 will focus on Defence Flag Administration requirements, Workshop 2 will focus on evolving a compliance strategy. Places are strictly limited.
