The Veterans Film Festival (VFF) is an annual event that brings people together to discover extraordinary stories about veterans, first responders, all who experience conflict and their families.

The VFF offers a meeting ground and artistic platform for veterans and filmmakers to network as creative artists and to engage with audiences of all ages, cultures and abilities.

The festival presents a curated program of carefully selected features, documentaries, short films and media art, focusing on recent work by talented indie artists from Australia and around the globe.

Within our program we will also present mainstream films to gala premieres, retrospectives to themed screenings, as well as crowd pleasing events i.e. workshops, discussions, exhibitions and provide opportunities to meet with veterans, filmmakers and content creators via Q&A’s, panels, etc.

The National Defence Industry & Workforce Skilling Summit will be held in Perth from 6-7 November 2019. Join representatives from government, industry, academia and peak industry bodies, to explore the complex skills challenges facing Australia's defence industry. Collaborate and engage with defence industry stakeholders to build the unity of endeavour to help Australia's defence industry build its workforce and skills base. Have your say as part of a highly interactive, exploratory, and diverse summit that will empower innovative ideas and collective action in driving forward the Workforce Behind the Defence Force. The Hon Melissa Price MP, Minister for Defence Industry, will present a keynote address at the commencement of the summit. Since 1993, Safeskies has provided an independent forum to share ideas and hear from industry leaders and experts on the very latest advancements in aviation safety. The Board of Safeskies is currently developing the Conference program with a range of international and local experts in their fields.  As in past conferences and prior to the plenary sessions, the Sir Reginald Ansett Memorial lecture and dinner will again be held at Australia’s Parliament House with an eminent speaker. Details will be posted on the website once available.

The SIA, in conjunction with UNSW Canberra, is hosting a one day seminar, focused on stimulating national discussion on a holistic approach to a nuclear industry future for Australia. This will be the first event to explore the complex nexus of submarine nuclear propulsion with the ongoing debate on the role of nuclear energy in an emissions-free electrical power generation. The SIA would like to ensure that any future technology review gives serious consideration to nuclear power as a propulsion option for submarines entering service at some time in the 2040s and beyond.
