Project Manager
  • Varley Rafael Australia Pty Ltd (VRA) is seeking a Project Manager – Defence Systems
  • The Project Manager shall lead complex systems integration, introduction into service and in service support activities.

Varley Rafael Australia Pty Ltd (VRA) – a joint venture company of RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems Ltd and the Varley Group is looking for a Project Manager – Defence Systems.

VRA will deliver advanced Defence Systems in the Land, Air, Maritime and Underwater domains and is seeking a Project Manager to lead complex systems integration, introduction into service and in service support activities.

The role will report to VRA’s CEO and will include engagement with senior Defence and Defence Industry personnel, liaison with RAFAEL’s engineering, support and marketing personnel and leading the successful delivery of state-of-the art Defence projects.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Australian Defence or Defence Industry background experience is highly regarded
  • Previous systems integration and systems engineering experience
  • Understanding of Product Life Cycle planning and associated cost models
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering framework and ASDEFCON contracting model
  • Australian citizenship is MANDATORY with either current security clearance or ability to obtain NV1 clearance
  • Tertiary Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Communication or Electronics) with Engineers Australia accreditation.
  • Minimum 5 years Project Management Experience with formal PM qualifications preferred
  • Extensive report and document writing, reviewing and approving experience

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish processes and procedures and recruit personnel to ensure highest levels of ADF in-service-support for VRA’s products and systems.
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are managed and followed by staff including workplace health, safety, quality, security and environmental aspects as set out by the company.
  • Provide the “voice-of-the-Defence-user” input and capture of Australian operational and in-service support expectations into all projects planning and supply.
  • Lead the development of internal FSR capabilities
  • Ensure Products and Systems’ safety, reliability and operability is maintained at all times
  • Manage and Develop future training and simulation plans and roll out.
  • Manage subcontracted and in house , Engineering, Test Planning, Certification & ILS deliverables are at the highest levels.
  • Support components and products supply and manufacturing planning & operations.
  • Support future marketing and business development activities
