About the Opportunity

In Cairns, BAE Systems provides Hydrographic In Service Support (HISS) to the Royal Australian Navy, managing the in service support requirements of Hydrographic Ships, Survey Motor Launches and Survey Motor Boats. Collectively, the team manages scheduled maintenance, engineering configuration changes and ad-hoc support requirements to support this fleet.

You will play a critical role on the Hydrographic In Service Support project and with our operations team in Cairns, with the opportunity to utilise your experience whilst continuing to grow and develop professionally.  These two key positions will report to the Operations Delivery Manager and will be offered on a permanent and full time basis.

 

These opportunities will see you:

  • Perform support engineering activities and ensure effective sustainment of the Hydographic Ships in the areas of logistics support analysis (LORA, Formica, RCM), or Failure Recording and Corrective Analysis System (FRACAS), or in reliability engineering
  • Collaborate with the project team to assess the reliability of designs and provide support engineering advice to stakeholders
  • Undertake logistics support analysis and ensure that the equipment/systems meets all requirements including safety and regulatory requirements
  • Draw conclusions and propose recommendations to improve equipment/system reliability and supportability through your analysis and available evidence
  • Collaborate with suppliers, contractors and project stakeholders on the management of support engineering activities
  • Undertake peer review activities of technical documentation ensuring high quality product output, and undertake product change management processes

 

About you

As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you’ll have:

  • Experience in Failure Recording and Corrective Analysis System (FRACAS), or logistics support analysis (LORA, Formica) or in reliability/maintenance engineering
  • Experience in delivering in large and complex technical projects, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Self-driven and strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and develop effective working relationships

 

Whilst not essential, an engineering tertiary degree or experience within the Maritime or Defence industry, will be highly regarded.
