Beca received three out of four New Zealand Minister of Defence Awards of Excellence to Industry during the 21st annual Defence and Industry Forum in Palmerston North.

The awards were announced by NZ Minister of Defence Ron Mark, with Beca taking home:

  • Award for the Provision of a Service to Defence less than $15 million;
  • Award for the provision of a product or service to Defence in excess of $15 million;
  • Health and Safety Citation for the strongest overall demonstration of excellence in health and safety carried out by an organisation supplying to Defence; and
  • Special Award for outstanding contribution to the sector.

The Special Award was received by Llanwyn Smith to recognise his "significant and long-term contribution to the relationship between Defence and industry".

Smith has worked at Beca for over 15 years and helped develop and deliver the P-3K2 Orion Software Support Services Contract.

“I believe our success reflects our genuine commitment to fostering a long-term strategic relationship with NZDF and the Ministry of Defence, the breadth of our service delivery to Defence clients, and the success of the outcomes delivered through industry collaboration,” Andrew Ford, defence segment leader for New Zealand, said.

“Well done to everyone involved and to your commitment to making everyday better for our Defence clients. I’d also like to congratulate our partners and other award recipients.”
