Originally hailing from France, Ibos accepted an offer of an internship in the Australian defence sector – an industry with which he at first had no particular affinity.

"It just happened that the topic of the internship looked really cool," Ibos told Defence Connect. "It was about radio telecommunication systems between frigates."

"I actually got to love defence as I went by and what I particularly loved was the fact that whatever you do in defence as a supplier has a direct impact on people's lives on the field. Later on, at Thales I worked on the Bushmaster program … on the support side of things and it was very apparent that whatever we did had an immediate impact in operations."

Reflecting on the remarkable record of the Bushmaster vehicle in protecting soldiers and saving lives, Ibos recalled being very proud to be have been involved in its development.

"It's unique in the world," said Ibos, noting that his work on the project had entailed taking care of the urgent operational requirements of US-trained troops in Afghanistan.
