Australia’s growing F-35A fleet has recorded a milestone 1,000th sortie of an Australian aircraft.

As part of the RAAF's transition to a fully fifth-generation combat force, 3 Squadron RAAF, which operates six F-35As at the Integrated Training Centre (ITC) based at Luke AFB, Arizona, has successfully completed the 1,000th sortie of an Australian F-35.

This marks a major milestone on the road to the full integration of the F-35 into the wider RAAF fleet and provides an opportunity for Australian pilots and aircrews to train on and with active aircraft and their US counterparts prior to the arrival of the first two Australian F-35s to RAAF Williamtown in December this year.

Once fully integrated, the F-35 will provide the RAAF with unrivalled aerial capabilities and interoperability with allied nations, including the US, UK, Japan and South Korea.
