Key messages:

  • Growing veteran-owned Australian SME
  • Supporting Australian Defence sovereignty through attracting, recruiting and retaining talent to our defence industry
  • Agile and innovative company using world class technology (AI) to drive better recruitment outcomes for the defence industry.
  • Our model is supporting companies to grow and take advantage of opportunities fast.

With the recent announcements to our government’s significant investment in our sovereign defence capability, workforce attraction and retention is the number one risk that the whole defence industry faces now and well into the future.

What are the right skills and experiences we need? When do we need them? Where will we find them, and how do we attract and retain the best people over the long term? What is the right recruitment strategy for us? Introduce Connect3i Pty Ltd – an Australian veteran-owned talent acquisition and human resources management consulting company, just three years old and achieving great things in support of our diverse defence industry. Behind the Connect3i brand are director and veteran, James Hall and Nikki Carson; both human resource management professionals with a combined 30 years of commercial and defence industry experience.

In line with the government’s recent changes to their procurement requirements in offering value for money, now is a great time to partner with Australian vet-owned SMEs like Connect3i.

Connect3i was born from a passion for the human resource profession and the drive to continue contributing to Australia’s growing defence industry. Since its inception, Connect3i has found great success in establishing themselves as a capability partner with large and SME defence companies to help them design, acquire and sustain the diverse and skills rich workforce they need to succeed. Simply put; they can attract, motivate and secure good talent fast from diverse talent pools. This ability enables Connect3i’s clients to scale and grow quickly to support our Australian defence capability and effectively manage their complex workforce requirements.

Having had experience as a military member and human resource management experience in the defence industry; together James and Nikki have a unique perspective into the challenges that defence organisations face. Most importantly what their people will face throughout their career. They understand the cost and time pressures, the need for high quality work and ethical standards, and knowing what capability our clients need to succeed now and well into the future. They’ve also managed the fallout for organisations when the wrong people are in the wrong roles; making them well placed to understand how to make sure the right people with the right experiences and attributes are matched with the right opportunities at the right time. Setting their clients up for success with the right people is what they know and do best.

What do they do differently to anyone else in the recruitment market? They understand defence industry from an operational, commercial and capability perspective; and have managed the full talent management spectrum in large commercial defence organisations.

Underpinning this knowledge and experience is the AI technology the Connect3i team leverage to attract diverse demographics of talent, build long-term talent pipelines and draw upon, as well as access, multiple digital sourcing channels to find the right people. Once they’ve found the talent, their focus is on maintaining the highest candidate engagement experience and ensuring their client’s employment brands are well represented. Securing good talent fast is core business.

“A key performance metric we like to track is how many internal referrals we receive from current and ex-serving defence members. It gives us such pride when a transitioning member contacts us and says their friend referred them to us for help”

- James Hall (director Connect3i)

This experience and motivation provides value for money that extends well and beyond a CV. Their focus is on relationships and building sustainable talent pipelines to fill the roles of not only today, but well into the future.

“Attracting, motivating and securing good people to the defence industry requires more than process and job ads. It is about relationships, leadership and passion”

- James Hall (director Connect3i)

Connect3i is an Australian veteran owned SME with a strong mission to support and grow Australian capability. We are proud supporters of veteran employment and members of the Recruiting,  Consulting and Staffing Association of Australia and New Zealand.   Most importantly, James and Nikki are easy going and like to have fun! When they aren’t working, they’re keeping fit, surfing, spending time with family and enjoying a drink (preferably a mojito, in moderation of course).
