According to a release from the company, the appointment came into effect on 1 November.

Venzal brings 30 years of experience in the aerospace industry across management, strategy, sales and customer relations into his new role, where he will oversee the company’s civil and military helicopter business in Australia and New Zealand from the company's Brisbane office.

“Australia and New Zealand are key markets for our helicopter business, with a strong footprint in the civil, parapublic and military segments," Venzal said.

"In addition, we have an important local presence in both countries with some 1,300 employees in Australia and 200 in New Zealand. I look forward to further developing our position in these markets, working closely with colleagues, customers, partners and industry stakeholders."

Airbus Helicopters confirmed that Venzal will report to Vincent Dubrule, head of Airbus Helicopters Asia-Pacific.

The appointment comes as Airbus welcomed an Australian tech firm into its bid for JP 9102.

Local technology services provider Willyama is latest member of Team Maier – an Airbus-led co-operative gunning for the Commonwealth government’s JP 9102 Australian Defence SATCOM System contract.

Willyama – which employs approximately 50 staff nationally with a strong focus on Indigenous and veteran employment – offers classified networking planning, end-to-end cyber security and hardware and software procurement.

The Canberra-based company will be tasked with delivering "secret" and "top secret" security accreditation for Team Maier, while also advising on the risk management strategy, system architecture and security controls proposed by the JP 9102 co-operative.
