Finnish advanced optronics and critical communications company Senop Oy will supply integrated Fire Distribution Centers in an export contract with Norway’s Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.

Finnish advanced optronics and critical communications company Senop Oy will supply integrated Fire Distribution Centers in an export contract with Norway’s Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.

Under the agreement, Senop Oy will supply Fire Distribution Centers (FDC) to be integrated into shelter systems for the international National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS).

The contract is a continuation to the 2009 supplier partnership between Senop and Kongsberg, when Finland acquired the NASAMS air defence system.

Senop managing director Aki Korhonen said the FDC integrates systems, sensors, and effectors in one system.

“Our long-term relation is built on trust, hard work, seamless cooperation, and great professionals,” he said.

The NASAMS short to medium-range, ground-based air defence system has the capacity to fire AMRAAM extended range missiles and AIM-9X-2 Sidewinder missiles. The system features an active 3D radar, passive electro-optical and infrared sensor. The standard configuration includes three launchers each with up to six missiles.

Earlier this month, the US State Department approved a possible foreign military sale for the Ukrainian government to receive National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System equipment.
