The South Australia-based firm has been tapped to supply its handling systems for a fleet of Army vehicles.

The Commonwealth government has awarded a $19.7 million contract to Supashock for the delivery of 36 locally produced specialist automatic load handling systems for integration with the Army’s fleet of protected HX77 medium heavy vehicles.
The handling systems, developed by Supashock in partnership with Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles Australia, are designed to enable vehicle operators to load and unload shipping containers and NATO standard flat racks without leaving the safety of the vehicle’s protected cabin.
“We are committed to ensuring ADF personnel have the tools they need to do their jobs in all environments,” Minister for Defence Peter Dutton said.
Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price noted the benefits of the deal for the broader South Australian community, with the contract tipped to generate 21 new jobs at Supashock.
“Our strong support for South Australia’s defence industry is clear and is vital to the state’s economy now and into the future,” Minister Price said.
This is the second Defence contract awarded to support the South Australian defence industry this week, with Boeing Defence Australia recently securing a $60 million P-8A Poseidon sustainment contract.
This is expected to involve the delivery of major maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) work and spiral upgrades, including developing digital sustainment capability at RAAF Base Edinburgh.
The work is to be delivered over the life of the P-8A Poseidon fleet, tipped to provide new opportunities for the local supply chain, while also upskilling the broader defence and aerospace industry.
BDA is scheduled to deliver deeper maintenance services on the first RAAF P-8A Poseidon in July 2022 following six years of service.
The new activities are also expected to create local opportunities for the sustainment of other P-8 Poseidon fleets around the world.
