The Royal New Zealand Air Force has awarded CAE a contract to deliver simulator through life support directly to the RNZAF.

Under the terms of the agreement, CAE will provide management services along with engineering and maintenance support to the C-130J weapon systems trainer.

The contract builds on CAE’s decades-long expertise in training services and technology, supporting C-130 operations across the Indo-Pacific region. The initiative will ensure that local aircrew training is of the highest standards, significantly enhancing New Zealand’s strategic and tactical airlift capabilities.

“CAE is proud to strengthen its long-standing partnership with the New Zealand Defence Force, building on a decade of delivering world-class support to achieve superior training outcomes and enhanced operational readiness of personnel,” said Andrew Niles, general manager – New Zealand, CAE Defense & Security.

He added that CAE understands the challenges of maintaining high-fidelity training devices and is committed to providing bespoke visual content development, increased device availability and scalable training operations. This will enable pilots to hone best practices and advanced skills essential for live missions.

Training under the contract will be conducted from No. 40 Squadron at RNZAF Base Auckland. This arrangement provides unparalleled access to a local training device that facilitates the transfer of complex training activities from live aircraft to a safe virtual environment.

CAE New Zealand, part of CAE Defense & Security, was established in 2013. The business has been supporting the RNZAF with training, maintenance and service support on platforms such as the T-6C Texan, SH-2G(I) Seasprite and NH90 helicopters.
