Ryan Aerospace has celebrated 20 years of designing and manufacturing virtual and mixed reality flight simulators for military and commercial training.

Founded in 2005 by managing director Chris Ryan, the start-up, which was originally based in NSW, now operates out of the Gold Coast and is one of the largest suppliers of flight simulators to the US military.

“This milestone is not just about longevity – it’s a tribute to the journey, the people and the partnerships that have defined our success,” Ryan said.

“We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built and even more excited about the future, as we continue pushing the boundaries of simulation technology.”

Over the past two decades, the company has delivered more than 600 flight training simulator systems across six continents, with its technology embedded in military pilot training programs and aviation worldwide. Platforms such as the HELIMOD and the Immersive Training Device series have set new standards for modular, reconfigurable and scalable simulation.

“None of this would be possible without the dedication of our talented and growing team of specialist designers, engineers, technicians, business development and support staff,” Ryan added.

“Their creativity, precision and unwavering commitment to excellence are the driving force behind everything we do.”

Ryan credits his passion for flight to a gift in 1985 from his parents: a Commodore 64 computer with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2.0 downloaded. Combined with flying lessons in his father’s Cessna 172 aircraft, this fuelled a fascination that would eventually become the global flight simulating company.
