Major General Jeremy King has closed out one of his final engagements as Head Joint Aviation Systems Division by co-chairing the annual Australia–France bilateral armaments committee.

Major General King met with France’s International Director, Directorate General of Armament, Lieutenant General Gaël Diaz de Tuesta for the meeting in Canberra during December last year.

As part of this engagement, Lieutenant General Diaz de Tuesta visited Mount Stromlo for a capability demonstration.

The meeting reinforces Australia’s commitment to the bilateral roadmap issued in 2023 and identifies mutually beneficial defence industry and materiel opportunities.

The committee provides an opportunity to advance cooperation on areas of key strategic importance, such as space domain awareness.

“Australia and France are exploring initiatives to increase defence industry cooperation to support and deliver capabilities to our respective defence forces,” MAJGEN King said.

“Through increased dialogue, strategic exchanges and information sharing, we aim to strengthen our mutual understanding and enhance cooperation in response to our shared strategic challenges.”

MAJGEN King has handed the baton as Head Joint Aviation Systems Division to Air Vice-Marshal David Scheul, who said he was honoured to take on the role of co-chair.
