The Australian Army has announced the integration of Quantum Systems’ Vector drones into the 9th Regiment, Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery.
Three Quantum Vector 2-in-1 operator courses have been completed to date with more drone qualification courses expected to be completed later this year.
“Members of 9 Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, have been working hard to qualify on the latest small uncrewed aerial system capability being introduced into the unit,” a statement from 9th Regiment, Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery said.
“The introduction of the Quantum Vector significantly enhances the regiment’s ability to conduct intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) tasks. As a versatile fixed-wing vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) platform, Vector combines endurance and range with the flexibility to launch and recover in confined environments.
“Equipped with advanced sensors, the system provides commanders with timely situational awareness across a range of operating environments. Its ability to rapidly deploy, operate quietly and deliver high-quality imagery makes it a valuable addition to the regiment’s suite of uncrewed aerial systems.
“By investing in new technology and training, 9 Regiment continues to increase its capability to support joint operations and deliver timely, accurate information to commanders on the modern battlefield.
“The regiment would like to extend its gratitude to 16th Field Regiment, RNZA, for supporting our first two courses and helping develop this important capability.”
