Ian spent more than thirty years in the Avionics and Defence Industry working in senior roles within Procurement, Component Engineering, and Obsolescence Strategy Development. In 2009 he joined Cognition Association Management where he spent six years providing CEO and Secretariat services to the Component Obsolescence Group. In January of 2015 he became the Chief Technical Officer of the International Institute of Obsolescence Management (IIOM) when it was formed from the COG organisation.
Ian has twice been Chairman of the Component Obsolescence Group and was the longest serving committee member. Whilst working with COG he was part of the team that created the International Obsolescence Management Standard IEC62402 and has written several IIOM guidance booklets and press articles on obsolescence matters.
