The US National Security Agency (NSA) has announced a single, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract worth US$700 million (AU$1.04 billion) to provide prototype and technology development support.

As part of this contract, Leidos will provide subject matter expertise to develop and maintain technology, tools and techniques in support of the analyst community. This includes analytic technique and prototype development, forecasting of emerging technology use, and developing prototypes.

Roy Stevens, Leidos Intelligence Group president, said, “We are pleased to continue our work developing next-generation technology solutions for the intelligence community.”

These efforts focus on determining feasibility, mitigating technical risks, and validating and evolving requirements that meet NSA’s dynamic mission needs. The company will also work to demonstrate critical features, qualify products or processes and characterise performance or product features early in the conceptual and demonstration phase.

This aims to help reduce risks, cost, and schedule impacts to the government.

This new contract continues Leidos’ longstanding support for the NSA and the intelligence community.

“Leidos experts will work to identify emerging technologies and develop new tools and techniques. We look forward to supporting the NSA’s intelligence and cyber missions that protect and defend our country," Stevens explained.

Leidos is a Fortune 500 technology, engineering, and science solutions and services leader working to solve the world’s toughest challenges in the defence, intelligence, civil, and health markets.

The National Security Agency/Central Security Service leads the US government in cryptology that encompasses both signals intelligence (SIGINT) insights and cyber security products and services and enables computer network operations to gain a decisive advantage for the nation and its allies.

NSA is part of the US Department of Defense serving as a combat support agency. Supporting military service members around the world is one of the most important things that it does.

NSA analysts, linguists, engineers, and other personnel deploy to Afghanistan and other hostile areas globally to provide actionable SIGINT and cyber security support to warfighters on the frontlines.
