The Ukrainian government has launched a new online defence tech marketplace to bridge the gap between military units and defence industry products.
The first-of-its-kind “Brave1 Market” online platform was launched at the start of this month to allow Ukrainian military units to directly contact manufacturers and purchase drones, robots of various types, AI-based modules, electronic warfare and electronic warfare devices, as well as other components that will be useful to the military in carrying out their missions.
Uncrewed aerial vehicles, unmanned ground vehicles, electronic warfare equipment, components, software and ammunition are reportedly already on offer.
In addition, Brave1 has announced it will integrate combat points (e-points) earned by military units for verified enemy target destruction to be made usable for future marketplace purchases.
“We are launching Brave1 Market – a marketplace of the latest technologies for the Ukrainian military. Units will independently choose the equipment they want to fight with and buy it using military unit funds,” according to comments made on social media platform Telegram by Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology and Minister of Digital Transformation.
“The platform will work as an online store – like Amazon or Rozetka, but instead of regular goods – innovations.
“Currently, the military is looking for manufacturers and developments on the internet, through friends and other units, so access to information is limited.
“The marketplace will significantly simplify the interaction between developers and the military.
“Defenders will be able to select the required technology in a few clicks, compare the characteristics of various tools, contact the manufacturer, and enter into a direct agreement.
“For security reasons, the military will log in to the marketplace through Diya. Particularly sensitive information will be contained in a closed catalogue, which will only be accessible to verified military personnel through the Delta system.”
Defence companies will be required to pass compliance checks before being able to sell defence technology and equipment on the market. In addition, the marketplace will also reportedly feature reviews for defence industry products in a future update.
