Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency has signed a memorandum of understanding with Germany’s Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH.

Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency has signed a memorandum of understanding with Germany’s Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH.

The agreement intends to jointly explore digitalisation and experimentation opportunities in simulation and training systems to enhance training capabilities for the Singapore Armed Forces

The memorandum of understanding is envisioned to support talent development initiatives through exchange programs, work attachments and internship opportunities at Rheinmetall, allowing Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) engineers and interns to deepen their technical competencies.

“This collaboration will enable Rheinmetall and DSTA to tap on each other’s strengths to explore advanced simulation technologies to develop more realistic, engaging and effective training capabilities,” said Yeoh Ee-Wen, director of simulation and training systems at DSTA.

“In doing so, we hope to harness the transformative potential of these technologies to enhance training for the Singapore Armed Forces.”

The collaboration, leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud and extended reality, was announced on the sidelines of IMDEX Asia 2025.

“Rheinmetall and DSTA bring together deep expertise, technological excellence, and a shared vision of leveraging digital transformation to push the boundaries of simulation and next-generation solutions,” said Tim Krabbes, head of sales for Rheinmetall’s integrated electronic systems business unit.

“I would like to stress that this collaboration is not just about technology …It is also about fostering a culture of innovation, agility and more importantly, trust.”
